Part 4
The Rude Trial
The rude trial was the fourth trial that Jesus endured. According to the accounts in the New Testament of the Bible (Matthew 27:27-31, Mark 15:16-20, and John 19:1-3), this trial took place when Jesus was brought by the Roman soldiers into the barracks.
The soldiers brought Jesus into the barracks and began to mock him. They dressed him in a scarlet robe, made a crown of thorns and placed it on his head, and put a reed in his right hand. Then, they knelt before Jesus, sarcastically saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" They struck him with their fists, spit on him, and ridiculed him.
These actions were a form of abuse and insult towards Jesus, displaying the soldiers' contempt and mockery towards him. They sarcastically referred to him as the "King of the Jews," as he was known as the Savior and Messiah of the Jewish people. This was a mockery of Jesus' divinity and the authority he represented.
This story reveals the suffering Jesus endured during his Passion, while highlighting his unconditional love and redemption for humanity. Despite the abuse and humiliation he experienced, he faced it with humility and patience, willingly bearing the cross for our sins.
