The Covenant Between Jesus and Man in the New Testament
1. The covenant of redemption:
John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." This verse expresses the covenant of redemption through Jesus Christ, God offers salvation and eternal life to those who believe in him.
2. The Last Supper and New Testament:
Matthew 26:26-28: "While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Take, eat; this is my body.' He took He took a cup, gave thanks, gave it to them, and said, 'Drink this, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. '" This describes the Last Supper, in which Jesus A new covenant was established, symbolizing his body and blood, and the forgiveness of sins received through his sacrifice.
3. The Sermon on the Mount:
Matthew 5-7: This is a series of teachings by Jesus on the Mount, including the Beatitudes, the teaching of the law, loving your enemies, praying, etc. These teachings demonstrate the covenant between Jesus and his followers, calling them to obey his teachings and live in a way that reflects the values of his kingdom.
4. The New Commandment of Love:
John 13:34-35: "I give you a new commandment, that you shall love one another: as I have loved you, so also you shall love one another. Then all men will know that you are my disciples." If you love each other. Emphasizing the new commandment of love, Jesus instructs his followers to love one another as he loves them, a love that will be the mark of their discipleship.
