Part 5
Philip
Philip first encountered Jesus in the city of Bethsaida in Galilee. When Andrew and Peter introduced Jesus to him, Philip immediately followed Jesus and became his disciple (John 1:43-45).
After Philip met Jesus, he found his friend Nathanael the Nazarene and brought them to Jesus. Among them was a Nazarene, Nicodemus, who had an important conversation with Jesus about regeneration and faith (John 1:46-51).
In John 6, when Jesus confronts a large crowd of hungry people, he asks Philip how he can buy food to feed them. Philip replied that even spending 200 denarii's worth of food on food could not satisfy everyone's needs. However, this is the moment when Jesus performed a miracle, multiplying the five loaves and two fishes, providing them with a surplus (John 6:5-13).
At the Last Supper, Philip said to Jesus, "Lord, show us the Father, and that is enough for us" (John 14:8). Jesus responded to Philip by saying that to see him was to see God the Father, and taught them to believe in what he did.
