Days Related to Easter
Palm Sunday: This is the Sunday before Easter and commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, where crowds waved palm branches and hailed him as the Messiah.
Maundy Thursday: Also known as Holy Thursday, it is observed on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples, where he instituted the Eucharist (Holy Communion) and washed their feet as a sign of humility and service.
Good Friday: This is the Friday before Easter and marks the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. It is a solemn day of reflection and mourning, acknowledging the sacrifice and suffering of Jesus for humanity's sins.
Holy Saturday/Easter Vigil: It is observed on the Saturday evening before Easter Sunday. It is a time of anticipation and preparation for the resurrection of Jesus. Many churches hold special services during this time, including the lighting of the Paschal candle and the proclamation of the Resurrection.
These days leading up to Easter are collectively known as the Holy Week or Passion Week. Each day holds its own significance in the narrative of Jesus' final days, culminating in the celebration of his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
